We have been here at Lake Wales RV Park since November 1st. The weather has been good but we are now seeing a cool down, mid 60s for highs and high 40s to low 50 for lows. It has rained here more than usual, 4 inches just last night. With sandy soil it doesn't leave a lot of puddles around for very long. Here are a few pictures of the campground we are in. They have a nice pond where you drive in.

Our time here in the Keys is drawing to a close. We are headed to Lake Wales Saturday morning to our campsite for the rest of the Winter. We will be there until May 1, 2015.

Wet
We are in the Keys and it has rained a little. Rain in the forecast for the next 8 to 10 days. Being only two feet above sea level makes it slow to seep into the ground. It takes a day to mostly seep into the ground.

Hot !!
It has been hot here in the Keys. Highs in the 90's and lows in the 80's. Have had the air on almost continually. Nice breeze outside if you sit in the shade.

Sun N Fun
We spent Saturday, April 5, at Sun N Fun in Lakeland, FL. It has been 22 years since we first visited the Fly In at the airport. Being that my wife and I are both pilots we share interest in flying even though we don't fly any longer. It has just got too expensive to do so with fuel and insurance costs going sky high. The Blue Angels were there as the highlight of the airshow and didn't disappoint anyone.

I've Been Slacking
I can't believe it's been over a month since I have posted here. I must be getting lazy. We have been doing the regular things from week to week, going out to eat (way too much) and traveling from here to there seeing what Florida has to offer. Quilt shows, art shows, fairs and many other things.
One of the highlights of last week was going to a Detroit Spring Training Game in Lakeland at Joker Merchant Stadium. The weather couldn't have been better, not to hot and not to cold, not a cloud in the sky. We had ordered tickets online the first day you could and got good ones just off third base. The pictures I have attached show our view from these seats. Unfortunately the Tigers Lost but still had a good time.

The Past Week
Well another week has sped by. The time here in Florida just seems to fly by.
Monday afternoons is the womens shuffleboard where the wife, Ellen, and her friend, Sandy, play. They aren't always partners but have a good time.
Tuesday afternoon we visited George and Linda. Linda and my wife worked together for ten years at Wolverine World Wide in Rockford, Michigan. They are camped in an RV park just ten miles North of where we are staying. Talk about a coincidence, being so close. George and I went to the same church many years ago. Sure is a small world.
Wednesday I planned a get together of the members of the motor home group we belong to in Michigan that are in Florida for the winter. There are thirteen members of the group and nine of them were here in Florida of which eight were able to get together. We met at the Der Dutchman Restaurant in Sarasota, Florida for their noon lunch buffet. Needless to say it was excellent and everyone had a good time. I have posted some pictures below.
Thursday night we went down the road to our "Rocket Launch Viewing Site". It's just a dead end street with no street lights that has a great view of the eastern sky. This was going to be a night liftoff of a rocket carrying a communication satellite. At 9:30 PM there it went and we had no problem seeing it, even being 75 miles away. We were able to watch it for quite a while as the skys were clear.
Friday and Saturday were days of rest and just taking it easy.

Past Happenings
It's been a while since I have posted here. Here in Florida its been a little cool lately. A couple of frost advisories and windy makes it feel sometimes cold. But not as cold as it's been back in Michigan where they have been in the single digits and lower sometimes.
We visited some friends in Port Saint Lucie who we camped next to when we use to go to the Experimental Aircraft Association and Oshkosh Air Show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. It has been ten years since we have seen them so it was very nice to be able to catch up on whats happened since we saw them last. We are planning on returning to see them again before we head back to Michigan.
We went to the Tampa RV Show in Tampa, Fl last Wednesday. It was held at the Tampa fair grounds. They have two very large buildings where there were many exhibitors displaying their wares. Many campgrounds also showing off their facilities and trying to get you to stay with them during the winter months. There had to be hundreds of camping units also on outdoor displays from travel trailers to luxury motor homes. We went thru the new Tiffin motor homes but didn't see anything we liked better than the unit that we have now.
Ellen has made a couple of visits to Disney thanks to friends who work there and get free passes. She enjoys going there and always has fun.
We have been to the flea market in Auburndale a couple of times as well. They always have fresh produce vendors which we always patronize. There produce is always better than that in the grocery stores.
Other than that we have just been taking it easy.

Golf Cart Rodeo
On Saturday the park had what they call a Golf Cart Rodeo. They set up a obstacle course in a vacant field and you navigate the golf cart thru. You first drive blindfolded with your partner telling where to go, then you pick up cans with a short pole while moving, drive ahead, then you try to lasso a horse on a construction horse, drive ahead, then you try to balance the cart and occupants on a sheet of plywood sitting like a teeter totter, drive ahead, then you throw bean bags into five gallon pails while moving, set tennis balls onto traffic cones while moving, knock balls thru hoops on the ground while moving, swing golf balls on strings to a ladder type of plastic tubing, drive ahead, then one person sits on a toilet and their partner tosses water balloons to them trying to catch them without breaking, drive ahead, and finally back the golf cart thru a set of small cones backwards. There were 16 teams of two who participated and all had fun watching and laughing.
That evening the park put on a "Welcome Back" party to the occupants of the park. They provided Pizza for everyone and had a DJ supplying the music. The winners of the Golf Cart Rodeo were announced and to my amazement My partner and I took First Place. All in all it was a fun time for everyone.

New Years
Did something I have never done on New Years Eve, sat at a campfire in a short sleeve shirt and jeans. It was in the mid 60's, partly cloudy with a easterly breeze. Cooked hot dogs and hamburgers over campfire. Had cooler with ice, coke and my favorite adult beverage. There was about 60 people to start and dwindled down to about ten. All in all a good time.
